What is Carpal tunnel Syndrome?

Carpal tunnel Syndrome is when your median nerve (in your wrist) gets squashed and can cause pain, numbness, and pins and needles in you hand. It can be cause by a range of factors:

Overuse of the hand:  The tendons from the muscles that move your hand and fingers all run through your carpal tunnel. Using these too much can cause irritation to the tendons and cause inflammation and swelling in your carpal tunnel, which squashes the nerves and can cause symptoms in the hand

Neck problems The nerves that supply your hands and arms exit your spine at the base of your neck. Lower Neck joint problems can cause irritation of these nerves and cause symptoms in the hands. It is often worst at night while in bed and can wake people up with numb hands arms or fingers.

Shoulder and arm dysfunction:   After the nerves exit your spine at the base of your neck, they pass through a series of muscles in your shoulder, armpit, elbow and forearm. tension or knots in these muscles can contribute to compression of these nerves and worsen your Carpal tunnel syndrome.
