Hip pain – common causes.
How?
Hip Pain can be caused by a variety of structures – mainly, muscles, ligamants, tendons, bones and joint surfaces. It is commonly caused by:
1. An over use injury like from doing lots of running. This mainly causes muscle and ligament injuries that can be treated with the RICE protocol (see last newslettter)
2. Poor biomechanical chain movements (From a leg length difference or a twisted pelvis) These can cause sprain and strain injuries in the knee and lower back and can cause joint issues
3. Long term wear and tear (carrying heavy loads or physical manual labour) – This mainly effects the Hip joint itself and can result in Osteoarthritis of the Hip joint.
What to do?
Find out the root cause of your Hip pain and get rid of its influence, you may need some orthotics or a heel lift if you have a leg length difference(which we can asses for you here), you may need some Chiropractic treatment to normalise the joint arrangement and function, or you may simply need some new shoes, or a different training routine.
