Emotional Pain and Physical Symptoms
Our thoughts and feelings are intrinsically linked to the health of your body. There are no hard and fast rules for what causes what, but there are common patterns.
How about when you’re stressed and anxious, you cant sleep, the muscles in your shoulders and neck get tight and you grind your teeth?
That’s a negative thought and/or emotion changing your physiology, in a way that makes you suffer. Keep it up for long enough, and you will have a diagnosable condition!
Ever seen a stressed and scared animal? The hair on its neck stands on end, it snarls and shows its teeth? – turns out that we are really not that different.
Make an effort to balance the unavoidable stresses in your life with some positive thoughts and experiences, and your physical body will reap the rewards.
There are many ways to elicit the relaxation response.
If you are stuck, try one or a few of these.
1. Exercise.
2. Mediate.
3. Pursue your Creativity.
4. Be in a Loving Environment.
5. Follow your Passion in Life.
6. Express Gratitude.
7. Practice Generosity.
8. Encourage or Praise Someone else.
Success is seen more often with little steps repeated over and over again.
Creating new habits by changing our beliefs and the way we think is indeed the only way we truly change, both our mind and our health.
