Merry Christmas from Sutherland Chiropractic!
Thankyou to all of you for being a part of this clinic and looking after your health with Chiropractic care.
I look forward to seeing you all next year happier and healthier than before.
Here are a few tips for all of us this Christmas:
1. Watch what you eat
Eat a healthy snack, a bowl of low GI cereal or fruit and yogurt before you go out. It will help you avoid high fat snacks, which can soon add up to a meal in terms of kilojoules if you’re not careful.
2. Love your liver
Cut your alcohol intake in the run up to Christmas and up your vitamins with fresh fruit smoothies. Make sure you drink plenty of water too.
3. Go for the grape
All alcoholic drinks contain an average of 450kj per serving and can upset the energy balance in your body. Alternate your alcoholic drinks with glasses of water and drink plenty of water during the night and before going to bed to avoid dehydration.
4. Focus on Family
Spending time with the family can be a wonderful thing, just make an advanced decision to see past eachother faults, be forgiving and try and make the day a beautiful memory, not a sour one.
5. Get your motor running
The weather’s usually great, so make the most of it with an early morning run, a brisk walk or a bike ride. Exercise releases endorphins that can boost your mood and your immune system.
6. Breathe deeply
Christmas and all it brings can be enough to make anyone’s heart race. Some simple breathing exercises can reduce tension in no time. Sneak off for five quiet minutes and take some deep breaths.
7. Get plenty of sleep
Prioritise rest, and aim for 7-8 hours of sleep a night, this will help for energy levels, boost your immune system, and make you nicer to be around!
8. Veg out
Sweet potatoes are packed with betacarotene and soluble fibre. Even better are dark green leafy veg, such as broccoli and cabbage, which some studies suggest can help prevent cancer. Aim to reach 5 fruit and vegetable servings every day.
9. Set your schedule ahead of time
Make plans of where you will spend your time, and who with. Be willing to compromise, and don’t over commit yourself. This can help to avoid conflict and letting others down.
Get the heart benefits of chocolate without blowing your diet. A new report suggests that eating just 30g of dark chocolate is enough to inhibit blood platelets from forming clots – so a square of dark chocolate a day might keep the doctor away.
